Further Documentary Planning

 Starting a Storyboard

I have been going through my research and reducing how much I have so I only keep the most relevant parts. I also am deciding which facts to put at the start and which to add at the end. The ones at the start I aim to give context to the spectator on dyslexia as many are unaware of the challenges. The ones at the end I hope to use for impact to really make the spectator think about the message of the documentary and take away something from it.

To help me add structure to my documentary I have created my initial idea storyboard. This will allow me to further prepare for when I start to film my documentary and interviews. It also gives me a brief idea on how I want it to flow and how I want to create a narrative. This provides me a foundation to build on to then start adding more detail to the story board which will have information about cinematography, editing and sound.

I also have been creating a list of potential teachers and students to interview. I am taking my time choosing so that I have a broad range of people who have different experiences and different views to make the documentary more diverse and interesting. I am trying to find students in different years who are dyslexia which is a bit trickier as I have to find ways to contact them and also find a place to interview them which works with their timetable.

I have reached out to a few people who are not from school but have been there and struggled. They are willing but I need to decide on dates for filming first when I am prepared. I also am getting ready to message the dyslexia specialist. Until I get a response, I will wait to message teachers so I can prepare a test myself if she is unable to make one.

My next steps are to start developing my storyboard to be more specific once I have heard back from the dyslexia specialist. After that the quiz will be made. For this I will need to arrange two interviews with each teacher, so I have time to give them the quiz and give them back their results. I also needed to fit in the student interviews which will be after the first set of teacher interviews as I can then ask the students about answers teachers gave. While I wait for responses back from interviews I will experiment with sound and camera work so that I am fully prepared when it comes to the interviews, and they can run as sufficient as possible.
